Our head instructor began his career in gas engines in 1968 working in the field of sports car racing. Over the past four decades he has worked for prominent companies including British Leyland, Renault, and Volkswagen, Team McLaren of North America, Budweiser Racing, Roerhrig Racing, Bud Friend Racing Engines, and Ingersoll-Rand (now Dresser-Rand/Siemens). Mr. Decker holds a specialist I.C.E. (Internal Combustion Engines) degree from the State University of New York- Alfred State College.
In 1980 he accepted a position with Ingersoll-Rand as a Junior Engineer in charge of Field Service crews. In the ensuing 35 years with Ingersoll-Rand, now Dresser-Rand, he worked as a test-bed and research technician and for the last 15 years of his career with the company he served as the sole gas engine instructor world-wide. Mr. Decker currently serves as the Manager of the Compression Curriculum for Gas Engines and Compressors at the Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas. He is also responsible for developing partnerships with the school to encourage material and financial support, coordinating guest speakers, curriculum development, and teaches several courses on gas engines and compressors. In 2016, Mr. Decker established GETT Services after recognizing the need for affordable, customizable, and student-centered training solutions for customers in the gas and oil industries. |
As an gas engine and compressor instructor, David Decker has developed extensive classroom and online training modules and presented at numerous industry events:
→ DuPont Sustainable Solutions: Created subject content for (7) seven Web-Based gas engine courses offered through Coastal Training.
→ US Navy: Created a course on the safety and Operation of US Navy High-Pressure N20-NL compressors for use by the shipyard personnel.
→ EGCR (Eastern Gas Compression Roundtable): Instructed a three day / 20 hour course on engine maintenance for three years and taught a course on Journal Bearings. (Accredited for awarding CEUs.)
→ Liberal Kansas Gas Institute: Piston Rod Packing Presentation.
→ Dresser-Rand: Provided gas engine and compressor training for over 400 field service mechanics in one year.
→ Internal Company Training: Presented on the advantages of the Socratic Method of classroom instruction.

→ Pasadena Refining: Created a gas engine safety, maintenance, and operations course for the use of their training dept.
→ GMRC (Gas Machinery Research Council) : Presented a technical paper on “Gas Engine Balancing”.
→ Kentucky Gas Association: Hands-on demonstration on web based training for 3 years.
→ DuPont/Coastal Training Technologies: Developed the content and modules for web-based gas engine training program.

Gwynne Barker has spent the last nine years working upstream of the oil and gas industry for the power players who broker deals and drive the industry- global fortune 100 companies and Middle Eastern oil magnates. Her work in the security industry as an executive protection specialist has taken her from developing countries to the inner circles of royal families.
As president of White Shadow & Associates, a small private security firm founded in 2010, Mrs. Barker has provided services in security consulting, operations and facilities, logistics, resource allocation, and risk management for clients with portfolios ranging from $2 Million to upwards of $5 Billion dollars. Mrs. Barker brings her knowledge of operations, logistics, and business management to Gas Engine Testing and Training, as well as her understanding of the critical importance of training and safety. With a passion for learning, she has a lifelong appreciation for the value of education and has personally instructed in such diverse fields as martial arts, firearms, foreign languages, and safety and awareness. Mrs. Barker holds a B.A. in Asian Languages & Cultures, is a licensed emergency medical professional, multiple safety and security certifications, and works part time as a Deputy Sheriff with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia. |

Michael Barker has a prior Army Special Operations background serving with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and was honorably discharged in 2006. He is an Iraq War Army veteran and a Service Connect Disabled Veteran with war time experience in both the military as well as on government contracts. His extensive experience in strategic operations and tactics from his time in Army special operations brings outside the box thinking and creative solutions to GETT’s management team.
Mr. Barker has significant knowledge in conservative capital improvement and corporate portfolio management through creative financing solutions, alternative investment strategies, cash flowing financial instruments, commodities markets, and risk mitigation based on market trends. Mr. Barker knows how to approach and interact with power players having worked in the private security industry for the last ten years as a consultant in all matters of security for heads of state, foreign ministers, ambassadors and corporate executives. He has a passion for personal development and training with emphasis on business, economics, trends forecasting, investing strategies, and security. Mr. Barker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Intelligence Studies from American Military University. |
